A truly iconic performer, the life of Jimi Hendrix is set to be the subject of a new biopic.

Denied permission to use the guitarist's music, the film instead focusses on his rise following Jimi Hendrix from the clubs of New York to his initial stardom in the UK.

Andre 3000 takes the titular role, with director John Ridley overseeing the project.
