Waleed Confirms Debut EP ‘Magdalena’

And shares the scintillating title track...

Waleed has confirmed plans for new EP ‘Magdalena’.

The producer’s sleeper hit ‘Se Rompen’ is an ongoing club smash, propelled by support from the likes of Four Tet and Ben UFO. Signing to City Slang, Waleed will release his debut EP this winter, containing his first artist material since 2023’s ‘Diaro’.

Out on December 6th, new EP ‘Magdalena’ finds Waleed broadening his approach. Born in DC but with Puerto Rican and Iraqi parents, the producer aims to bring together his passion for club culture with an awareness of his heritage.

Take the scintillating title track. Out now, ‘Magdalena’ offers spectral house, the fragments falling like fireworks across the speakers; the vocal, meanwhile, comes from Martina Camargo who is nominated for ‘Best Folk Music Album’ at the upcoming Latin GRAMMYs, she will also be performing at the ceremony on November 14th.

Waleed comments…

This song was born out of me listening to the Martina Camargo track ‘Guataqui’. The voice of the child, who I later found was her daughter, really stuck with me. When making this, it felt like this track was a gateway to another world, where the intro serves to walk you there. Martina Camargo is from the Magdalena region in Colombia, and my mom’s name is Magda, so it felt like the perfect title for the track and EP.

Tune in now.
