Virgin Records 40th Anniversary Competition

Label toasts its birthday...

Virgin Records is now forty years old.

Let's put that in perspective: the perpetual enfant terrible, the label which housed Gong, The Sex Pistols, Public Image Limited and more, who dominated charts in the 80s… is now middle aged.

But, as they, say, life begins at forty. Virgin Records recently held a lavish party to toast its anniversary, and two special shows will take place next month.

On November 11th, Martyn Ware is set to re-visit his roots on a special Heaven 17 centred show. Meanwhile, Jazzie B – a man so dedicated to soundsystem culture that the Queen herself thought to honour him – is set to present a set focussing on his work with Soul II Soul.

Clash is able to offer a pair of tickets to both London shows, throwing in a copy of Virgin Records' lavish new coffee table tome to boot.
