The BPI reports that vinyl album sales in the UK rose by 26.8% in 2017.
The vinyl revival is one of modern music's most dissected traits, with the format emerging from near extinction to become an important part of the way music is sold.
Black wax accounted for around 1 in 10 of every physical music sale in the past 12 months, with more than 4.1 million vinyl albums being snapped up.
Year on year that's a 26.8% increase, allowing vinyl to rise to levels not seen since 1991 – the year of 'Nevermind', 'Screamadelica', and 'Loveless'.
The continuing increase is partly due to the impact of supermarkets stocking vinyl once again, with Sainsburys and Tesco making notable incursions into the marketplace.
Alongside this, artists are continuing to embrace the format – the best-selling release was Ed Sheeran's '÷' while in second place came Liam Gallagher's 'As You Were'.
