Villagers Post New Track

Stream 'The Waves' now...

Irish songwriter Villagers has posted new track ‘The Waves’ online – watch it now.

Fronted by Conor O’Brien, Villagers released their intoxicating, subtle debut full length ‘Becoming A Jackal’ back in 2010. Slowly gaining wider acceptance, the band broke through after gaining a nomination at the Mercury Music Prize.

Taking time off after a hectic period of touring, it seems that Villagers are ready to stir back into life. Zane Lowe was handed new track ‘The Waves’ last night, and the song caused an instant stir online.

Set to be released as a single on October 22nd, the song is Villagers first move since the release of ‘Becoming A Jackal’.

Conor O’Brien recently mused on the track’s inspiration: “I was looking up at the sky on a particularly clear night and it struck me that I had never written a song about those little moments when you feel a fundamental and awesome sense of wonder and a simultaneously humbling recognition of absolute insignificance”.
