Villagers will release new album 'The Art Of Pretending To Swim' on September 21st.
The ever-productive Irish project have been led back into the studio by songwriter Conor O’Brien, eager to re-connect with the lush palettes of his opening two statements.
'The Art Of Pretending To Swim' seemingly echoes the palette of those two records, while adding further soulful elements in the process.
Lead song 'A Trick Of The Light' is certainly an impressive return, featuring visuals sculpted by Bob Gallagher.
Conor O'Brien explains: "Myself and Bob got together and discussed the song thematically and came to the conclusion that there was no other option but to make a short film in which we follow a dishevelled shamanistic protagonist who mysteriously triggers an altered state of consciousness in everyone he meets, or at least believes that he does. We also wanted lots of dancing and to inspire a general feeling of 'what the hell did I just watch?' in the viewer."
