South London’s Venna has shared his glorious new single ‘Sicily Box’.
The all-rounder is one of the city’s most versatile musicians, someone who can move from a jazz session to a rap workout with natural ease and finesse. He’s starting to make serious moves as a solo artist, and new single ‘Sicily Box’ exemplifies this.
Taking the reins, it’s a slick mover, the beat tapping into the Autumn sunshine. Jazz drummer Yussef Dates joins the ensemble, while Venna also recruited multi-instrumentalist Marco Bernadis and bassist Rocco Palladino.
Pieced together with remarkable care and attention, ‘Sicily Box’ has become emblematic of Venna’s journey – kicked off in South London, sessions continued around the globe before it reached completion.
Venna states:
“Sicily’ Box is a special record that I created with my brothers. We started it in Deptford and I finished it around the world. It’s a record that perfectly captures the essence of my thoughts musically & also a soundtrack to my travels over the past year.”
Tune in now.
