Initially groomed as a pop star in the vein of Marianne Faithfull, Vashti Bunyan quickly rebelled against this image.
Becoming entranced with folk, the singer took off on a fateful trip across the British Isles with her partner – using a horse drawn caravan as transport.
The experience fuelled classic 1970 album 'Just Another Diamond Day', a record which flopped on its initial release but went on to earn cult acclaim.
Returning in 2005 with the beautiful 'Lookaftering' full length, Vashti Bunyan has spent the intervening time working on new material and collaborating with the likes of Animal Collective, The Heritage Orchestra and more.
Now – as FACT point out – the singer has outlined plans for a new album. 'Heartleap' will be released later this year on Fat Cat, with Vashti Bunyan planning a full British tour in support.
