Arranger To Play London Gig

Legendary songwriter and arranger Van Dyke Parks is set to play a very special one off gig at the Jazz Cafe in London it has been announced.

Van Dyke Parks worked with Brian Wilson on the legendary ‘Smile’ album, but is an established artist in his own right. Gigs from the arranger are rare, and this concert if very definitely a one off.

The new gig will feature Parks’ work with Californian based songwriter Inara George. The two collaborated on the new studio album ‘An Invitation’, which is a lush, elegant, fully orchestrated song cycle. Inspired by artist such as Frank Sinatra and Richard Sherman, it was a typically unique collection.

Van Dyke Parks was friends with Inara George’s father Lowell George – lead singer with 70s rockers Little Feat. Parks’ career spans over six decades and includes work with artists as diverse as Grace Kelly, The Byrds, Louden Wainwright III and Joanna Newsom.
