Vampire Weekend Share Two New Songs: ‘Capricorn’ And ‘Gen-X Cops’

The first previews from their incoming LP...

Vampire Weekend have shared two new songs – ‘Capricorn’ and ‘Gen-X Cops’.

The band will release new album ‘Only God Was Above Us’ on April 5th, their first in almost five years. The roots of the songs extend back to sessions Ezra Koenig undertook in 2019 and 2020, prompted by the history and people of New York.

Overnight two new songs have gone live, displaying different aspects of creativity at work in the album.

‘Capricorn’ has a slight feel of introspection, moving the group’s radiant sunshine indie into a different space. Slightly low-key, it’s coupled to the muscle of ‘Gen-X Cops’ which seems to point to New York’s rock history – scuzzy and proud, it’s built for sweaty rooms.

Tune in now.
