Valencia Grace has shared new single ‘Opera’.
The songwriter grew up on both sides of the Atlantic, her fast-moving pace of life causing her to look inwards. When lockdown came she was frozen in one place, allowing Valencia Grace to find focus, and an online audience.
Uploading all manner of covers, demos, and other performances to social media, her theatrical sound was packed with soul. Debut EP ‘Roses’ continues her journey, and a flurry of singles mark her path towards its release.
Out in a few weeks, the EP is trailed by vivid new song ‘Opera’. A song of real world-building capabilities, it was inspired by a visit to the glorious landscapes of the Pacific North West, and the solitude she found there.
As ‘Opera’ reaches its climax, she sings: “floating in the dark I loved you, what a tragedy I hit the ground because you said you’d meet me”.
Valencia comments…
“Writing ‘Opera’ was such a fun experience, it really came out of nowhere. I was visiting Multnomah Falls in Portland, Oregon at the time, I was fully surrounded by nature and sensory experiences like sharp wind, crunchy snow and water hitting my face. On the car ride back home I sat in complete silence writing the lyrics and melodies of the entire song in my head. Opera is my ‘i’ve always wanted to write one of those’ songs…”
