An oft-commented upon facet of modern music, the vinyl resurgence is continuing to break records.
Last year, more than 6.1 million vinyl records were sold, the highest amount since 1991.
The reason behind this? Well, a continued presence on the high street certainly helps. A perhaps unlikely source, Urban Outfitters was recently named the world’s most popular vinyl outlet.
The clothing / accessories store has an inventive approach to selling vinyl, letting out their shelves to more than 100 vendors who produce lists of product tailored to each outlet.
In a short statement, Calvin Hollinger, the company’s chief administrative officer said: “Music is very, very important to the Urban customer… in fact, we are the world’s number one vinyl seller.”
