In a ground breaking move renowned electronic artist Alex Smoke has teamed up with the Scottish Ensemble to produce a unique piece of music.
Commissioned by the University of Dundee the piece unites Smoke – who is a classically trained cellist – and the Scottish Ensemble to produce a piece which reflects the work done by the University’s innovative Life Sciences department.
Commenting on the new production Smoke said: “For an artist involved in electronic music, and with a passion for classical music new and old, this really is a dream commission; I also have a background in biology which makes the context especially pertinent.”
The piece, written by Smoke and performed by the ensemble, will premiere in a special event at the University’s Designs For Life symposium.
Alex Smoke and The Scottish Ensemble premiere their piece on February 13th.
