Universal, Beggars Group Unite Against Brexit

Music industry figures urge 'Remain' vote...

Leading figures from Universal and Beggars Group have united to support British membership of the EU.

The issue of British membership is at stake in a forthcoming referendum, with the vote due to take place on Thursday (June 23rd).

The music industry is global, with campaigns frequently crossing territories and utilising skills from different nations and continents.

No doubt with that in mind, Universal Music UK CEO & Chairman David Joseph and Beggars Group boss Martin Mills have issued a joint statement supporting a Remain vote.

The letter was obtained by Music Business Worldwide, and gives employees a stark warning: "This may be your last Tuesday in Europe."

Urging employees to take part in the voting process, the letter states: "We believe a victory for Brexit would be economically, politically, socially and culturally disastrous – for all of us."

Last month a total of 282 people from the creative industries in this country signed the Britain Better in Europe letter – including several senior figures from the music industry.
