Band Recording In France

Global rock stars U2 have announced that the release of their new album has been delayed until early 2009, with the band currently recording in France.

The Irish rock giants are currently vying with Coldplay for the title of 'Biggest Band In The World', and their new album is highly anticipated. The band haven't released any new material since 2004's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", and have instead focussed on merely saving the world - poor show, guys!

Hidden away deep in the South of France, the Irish group are currently re-thinking their sound with singer Bono taking time to publish a statement on their official website. We’ve hit a rich songwriting vein," Bono said. "It gets a bit dark down here but looks like we've found diamonds not coal. I thought a while back we might have the album wrapped by now, but why come up above ground now if there's more priceless stuff to be found?"

Apparently a change in direction is in order, with the diminutive singer stating that "what we’re about now is of the same order as the transition that took us from 'The Joshua Tree' to 'Achtung Baby'."

The new U2 album is due in early 2009.
