Irish rock giants U2 are to release a vinyl edition of their remix album ‘Artificial Horizon’.
U2 have long have a love affair with dance music. Entering an artistic cul de sac with their increasing interest in Americana, the band welcomed the 90s by retreating to Berlin with Brian Eno.
Completely re-working their sound, U2 re-emerged with ‘Achtung Baby’ – arguably their finest moment. Spawning the hit single ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’ the track was remixed into dancefloor heaven.
Sparking a lasting relationship with dance culture, the band have recently retreated away from their electronic explorations. Releasing their new album ‘No Line On The Horizon’ last year U2 handed the material over to a new generation of remixers.
The Irish group assembled a stunning range of producers for the project, previously only available for subscribers on their official website. London electro group Hot Chip have taken on U2, with Trent Reznor and French electro titans Justice also getting involved.
Now U2 have confirmed details of a vinyl issue of ‘Artificial Horizon’. Due for release on May 14th the triple disc collection contains remixes of recent stand out tracks such as ‘Beautiful Day’ and last year’s single ‘Get On Your Boots’.
However fans shouldn’t get their hopes up – U2 are only making this edition of the album available to those who subscribe on their website. Priced at $35, a subscription costs an additional $50.
