Irish rock giants U2 will release their long awaited new studio in early 2009, a spokesperson for the band has announced.
U2 haven’t released a new studio album since 2004’s ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’. A revitalized set, it contained the massive hit single ‘Vertigo’. The band’s most straight forward rock album in some time, U2 are apparently seeking a more left-field direction on their new album. Though we bet it still sounds like them.
The band haven’t finished recording the new album yet, but a spokesperson has confirmed it will come out in early 2009. “We still don’t have a release date for this album, the band are still working,”she told British newspaper the Telegraph.
“It might be early in the New Year.”
Last month U2 frontman Bono issued a statement on the band’s official website which increased the hype around the album. “We know we have to emerge soon but we also know that people don’t want another U2 album unless it is our best ever album,” said the diminutive frontman.
