Tyler Pope has always aimed to blend the cerebral with the physical. A key component of LCD Soundsystem, his in-depth awareness of club culture is matched to a painterly production flourish, with his studio endeavours operating on multiple levels.
Based in Berlin, his new EP ‘Make Each Other Happy’ is a slinky four-tracker, embodying a kind of quiet exuberance. Prompted by the re-opening of clubs and the resurgence of community, he’s able to move from Neptunes style future-facing R&B through to glacial disco and bass-heavy post-punk, all while somehow implying some form of unity.
Incoming on his own Interference Pattern imprint, the EP is led by fantastic new track ‘Jump In The Fire’. From the rock-solid bassline down to those tinkling synth melodies, the track is exquisitely layered, with Tyler Pope taking his “body-moving” approach to a fresh realm.
M Andreoni guests on the track, and the full video is unveiled on Clash before anywhere else online.
