Scottish indie experimentalists The Twilight Sad are preparing to release their new EP ‘The Wrong Side’.
The Twilight Sad don’t like to sit still. Following their debut album with a collection of cover versions and rare demos, the band are now planning a sequel to their acclaimed second album ‘Forget The Night Ahead’.
Released last year, the album was a dark and brooding return for the band. The Twilight Sad matched deeply introspective lyrics with intense soundscapes, recalling their origins as a noise rock group.
Now the band have decided to release a new EP. Titled ‘The Wrong Side’ the forthcoming release matches unreleased material with some very special remixes.
‘The Wrong Side’ contains four tracks, with The Twilight Sad contributing two new compositions. Elsewhere, the band have handed their material over to close friends to be given a new lease of life.
Previous single ‘The Room’ is remixed by post rock group Mogwai, who rarely do remixes these days. Fellow Glasgow types, ‘The Room’ is turned into a dark and elegiac soundscape in the hands of the Rock Action group.
Meanwhile, math rock types Errors are given free reign on ‘Reflection Of The Television’ adding some skittering, glitch style beats. Of course, this is only returning the favour after The Twilight Sad turned Errors’ track ‘Bridge Or Cloud’ into a highly economical glitch.
The EP is also set to feature a special video based on the track ‘Throw Yourself In The Water Again. Directed by Nicola Collins, the film follows from the Collins’ previous work ‘The End’ released last year.
The Twilight Sad are due to release ‘The Wrong Side’ on July 26th.
