Brooklyn indie giants TV On The Radio are set to take a rest from their hectic schedule, with the band going on a one year hiatus.
TV On The Radio have emerged as one of the most thoughtful and inventive groups in American music. Beginning life as an experimental Brooklyn group the band have refined their left-field leanings without losing their credibility.
2003’s ‘Return To Cookie Mountain’ launched TV On The Radio into a world of heavy touring and TV appearances. Amid mounting hype, the group released their latest album ‘Dear Science’ last year to overwhelming praise.
Almost immediately compared to landmark albums such as ‘OK Computer’ it remains to be seen what the lasting significance of ‘Dear Science’ will be. However ClashMusic can say this – it rocks. A lot.
Sadly it seems as if the album will be the band’s last word for a while. ‘Dear Science’ will be followed by a one year break, lead singer Tunde Adebimpe told MTV recently.
The group apparently need time to “live a life and change things up”. In addition to their day jobs in TV On The Radio the musicians each have a huge array of solo projects.
Adebimpe himself is due to appear on the forthcoming Massive Attack EP, while guitarist Kyp Malone is due to release a solo album under the name Rain Machine.
However it is fellow guitarist Dave Sitek who has the busiest schedule. A producer, Sitek recently worked on Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new album and is currently planning his involvement with sessions featuring Pink Noise and Wale.
TV On The Radio are due to take a one year break.
