TV On The Radio Solo Project

Kyp Malone prepares new album

TV On The Radio guitarist Kyp Malone has been hard at work on a solo album, with ‘Rain Machine’ due for release in September.

TV On The Radio formed back in 2001 in Brooklyn. Beginning as something of a hobby the group suddenly took on a momentum of its own, blending rock with funk, soul and electronic elements to craft something devastatingly new.

After building a cult following it was 2006’s ‘Return To Cookie Mountain’ which propelled the band to greater prominence. TV On The Radio’s breath-taking ambition, their forward thinking musical vision allied to stunning songwriting bowled over critics.

‘Return To Cookie Mountain’ is now regarded as something of a modern classic in American rock. It quite rightly featured in the Clash Essential 50 – click HERE to read our thoughts!

Last year’s album ‘Dear Science’ was celebrated as a confident return from one of the most inventive bands in the United States. Since its release, TV On The Radio have been touring constantly – recently playing Scotland’s T In The Park event.

With their dual frontmen TV On The Radio make for a thrilling live experience. Kyp Malone spits out some fierce riffs, while his soothing voice blends in with the band’s glorious harmonies.

Malone has been working on a new solo album, which is due to be titled ‘Rain Machine’. Featuring a cover sleeve designed by Kyp Malone himself, the album is due to be released via Anti Records.

Produced with Ian Brennan, the album will be released after TV On The Radio complete a show as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn series. Hailing from the city, the band have always been proud of their roots with Dave Sitek running a celebrated studio in Brooklyn.
