Awkward indie types Young Knives have long outgrown their days in the nation’s smaller venues, but the group are set to head back there for a tiny show in London.
The band are currently hard at work promoting new album “Superabundance”, the follow up to their Mercury-nominated debut album “Voices Of Animals And Men”. With venue sizes increasing, and the words “sold out” being used to describe their tour dates the decision to play the 160-capacity Star Of Bethnal Green venue in London could be seen as a strange move.
However, the band were at their usual entertaining selves when revealing the gig in a myspace bulletin, stating:
“Young Knives have never been a cool band, in fact we have actively rallied against all things trendy, happening and London-centric.”
“We are also massive hypocrites and it is in this capacity that we would like to announce a double-super-trendy gig. The gig is in über-wanky London venue The Star of Bethnal Green and is a warm up for the Glastonbury mud-fest.”
Young Knives will play the following live dates:
June 11th – London, Star Of Bethnal Green
