Tru Thoughts Anniversary Compilation

Label celebrates its birthday in style

Brighton based label Tru Thoughts are set to celebrate their 10th anniversary in style, with a special limited edition 3-CD compilation.

For a decade now, Tru Thoughts have been synonymous with quality music. Founded in Brighton, the label was started up by producer Robert Luis and has provided a long term home for his Quantic project.

However the label has diversified to claim one of the most eclectic rosters around. Sure, Tru Thoughts might retain a penchant for retro soul, funk and jazz but the label has expanded into hip hop and electronica, always retaining a high quality control.

The label is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a series of special events and releases. The latest to be announced is a special limited edition compilation featuring some of the imprint’s best cuts alongside new music.

Packaged alongside lavish sleeve notes the new ‘Best Of’ will be a covetable premium package. Containing some of Tru Thoughts best known artists, the forthcoming release will contain material from the likes of Quantic, Belleruche, The Bamboos, Hot 8 Brass Band, Stonephace, Nostalgia 77, Lizzy Parks, Flevans and more.

Chosen by Tru Thoughts staff and artists, the compilation will be limited to only 3000 copies. However the label will release the album as a two-CD version later in the year.

Hugely influential, Tru Thoughts have won some friends in high places. Neal Sugarman owns Daptone Records, itself no stranger to critical praise, and he had this to say:

“Tru Thoughts is the type of label that inspired me to own and run a record label. The same way you felt when you saw great branded record labels like Atlantic, Stax or Motown, back in the day.”

“When you see the Tru Thoughts Logo you immediately get a feeling of excitement, knowing that whatever record you will be hearing was created with integrity, honesty and a high level of quality.”

Tru Thoughts are set to release their 3-CD 10th Anniversary package on October 12th.
