Portugese producer Trikk has shared contagious new funker ‘Mata Mata’.
The electronic musician is part is a rich vein of club culture in his homeland, with Portuguese artists fostering international links. Incoming album ‘Fauna & Flora’ epitomises this, and it lands on February 17th via Innervisions.
Stripped from the LP, ‘Mata Mata’ blends crisp house aspects with the urgent percussive flair of Baile funk. The bedrock is all Trikk, while the vocal comes from Brazilian MC and visual artist Gabriel Massan, who adds some x-rated spice to the track.
The producer jokes that it “definitely cannot be played on the radio… We needed someone who had the attitude and charisma to pull this off”.
