Treanne Shares Debut EP ’20/20′

Kansas City-based singer-songwriter Treanne releases her debut EP ’20/20′, via Young.

Featuring previously teased singles ‘Please‘ and ‘Sharing My Body‘, ’20/20’ also integrates folky confessional ‘Reasons’ and stripped-back piano suite ‘It’s Ur Birthday’. Treanne explores the haphazard transition from adolescence into adulthood, meditating on intimacy, love, longing, bodily autonomy, and boundaries in relationships. Her voice is wispy and up-close throughout, displaying tender but searing accounts of her growing pains, without over-sentimentalising her afflictions.

On EP closer ‘Reasons’, Treanne worked with English artist Jack Peñate in London. The track represents a homecoming of sorts for the singer: Treanne was born in London, raised in Jamaica, before settling in Kansas.

Treanne’s EP arrives on the heels of her first US tour with label mate Sampha and a three-week residency at Young Space in London.
