Tragicomics have shared their latest single ‘Stranger Things’.
First emerging in 2017, the alt-country collective are coming together once more to deliver their hybrid blend of rock, Americana and heavier acoustics. The result is ‘Stranger Things,’ a track that weaves between gruff vocals, vibrant guitar riffs and warming string sections. From start to finish, the track seeks to unite its listeners, offering solace to those who feel stagnant.
Hailing from Manchester, Tragicomics is made up of Christopher Eatough, Toby Cryne, Laura Morley and Jay Fearon. Following their sophomore album ‘Book I Want’, the outfit have turned into a beloved mainstay across the city’s live circuit, sharing stages with the likes of Chris Stills, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers and The Lone Bellow.
‘Stranger Things’ marks a new era for the band, experimenting with a rich sound palette that taps into more ambitious song-writing and equipment. Recorded at Pinhole Studio, the track makes use of original 60s tape delay and a vintage Leslie speaker. Arriving alongside a music video directed by LA visual artist Maria A Norris, it’s certainly an exciting time for Tragicomics.
The band detail: “Stranger Things is a song about paralysis. Paralysis through indecision; waiting around for a change to come, and being unwilling – or unable – to make that change yourself. Nights spent staring into the sky, waiting for an answer that will never arrive. Realising your own faults and that there is no overcoming them.
But, you know, it’s also a playful, slightly daft country song. There are two sides to everything.”
Tune in now…
