Ezra Collective are a force to be reckoned with.
Boundary-less improvisation rooted in jazz, the London group allow all manner of influences to pivot through their creative lens.
Recently they've become drawn once more to grime, a shared formative experience that plays a key role in all their lives.
'Quest For Coin II' saw Ezra Collective work alongside Jme, with Ezra Collective able to work alongside one of UK rap's true greats.
New track 'More Than A Hustler' takes the interplay between jazz and grime even deeper, allowing the forms to coalesce at a molecular level.
The group's first blast of new material in 12 months, it remains subtle while expertly demanding your attention, those spine-shattering rhythmic twists aligned to vocals from South London's own Novelist.
"The marriage of grime and jazz started for us when we’d play covers of JME instrumentals”, explains bandleader Femi Koleoso. “That journey continued with Quest For Coin II, and this latest instalment features an MC who, like us, has a deep love for pushing the boundaries of music. 'More Than A Hustler' is the tale of how we are consistently on the quest for greatness, and how we are more than just that journey - way more.”
Out now, Ezra Collective will host a free party called Joyful Vibrations in London on December 22nd.
