Out this week on the cracking Institubes label, Chateau Marmont’s ‘Solar Apex’ EP presents four tracks of sci-fi dance-pop, its makers well-schooled in remixing circles (La Roux, Midnight Juggernauts) and now stepping into the light with their own fare.
This isn’t the sound of ‘now’, at least not the now the fashion-centric tomes will tell you of; rather, Chateau Marmont re-work the echos of Jarre et al into contemporary forms – this is widescreen music for those with the grandest designs.
This track, ‘Anything & Everywhere’, is (to quote the PR copy): “a drop of languid and upbeat optimism, a ray of sunshine beaming from an imaginary California, a perfect pop confection.” Which sums it up very nicely indeed. Have a listen and see what you reckon…
