Track Of The Day 7/4 – joshua epithet

'You Genuinely Concern Me'

joshua epithet isn't about to be hemmed in.

A pan-genre songwriter whose bedroom pop approach defies boundaries, he seizes hold of inspiration wherever it can be found.

New single 'You Genuinely Concern Me' moves from Britpop to hip-hop, grabbing 90s pop tropes while adding a Gen Z slant on them.

Speaking from the heart, the Manchester based alt-indie artist speaks his truth, letting his accent spill out over those words.

A song about trying to re-imagine the past, the low-slung bass line nods to his city's post-punk heritage, while adding something colourful, and vibrant.

As he puts it: "It's about looking back on an argument or situation, thinking about what you should've said, and reimagining it to save yourself from dwelling on the past…"

"When I was growing up, the type of music I was into, America was doing it way better" he adds. "But I'll rep Britain all day long – as much as my Irish mum allows me to. I want to be part of this new wave of British musicians!"

Ben Wescott directs the raw visualiser – tune in now.
