Sometimes odd couples just work better.
Take She & Him. Zooey Deschanel and M Ward met on the set of a movie, one an award winning actress the other a respected songwriter.
Recognising something in each other, the pair began jamming on new material. She & Him were formed, a simple name for a project steeped in little more than a love of music.
‘Volume One’ was released in 2008 and became a huge critical and commercial hit. Taking time off their respected careers last year, She & Him began jotting down demos for what would become their second album.
Released earlier this year, She & Him’s ‘Volume Two’ does exactly what it is expected to do. If the duo’s debut album was a series of glorious hymns to summer, the follow up turns the sun’s glare up that little bit more.
Taken from the new album, comeback single ‘In The Sun’ typifies their swift harmonies and lazy day feel.
