Track Of The Day 6/2 – Husband

A brutal unstoppable force...

Monday is a mist, a fog.

Which is why you need something to blow those clouds away. Enter Husband. Italians who live in London, the duo (for there are two of them) have been winning acclaim with their unrelenting mixture of post-punk guitars and ear-shredding electronics. Connected to the Robot Elephant label, the band were amongst those recently invited to take part in a Trans-Atlantic conversation with the Californian based Tundra Dubs collective.

A split release, ‘Robot Elephant vs Tundra Dubs’ is set to drop on March 19th. Varying hugely in style, the two labels are connected by their DIY approach and their love of outsider sounds.
Which brings us neatly back to Husband. Last year’s ‘Love Song / Slow Motion’ EP found the pair attempting to shoehorn the energy of their live performances onto magnetic tape. Their first movement since then, Husband have donated a track to the upcoming compilation.
It’s not pretty – but it is effective. Husband have the same urgency which fed through the first two Suicide albums, but connect this with a meditative synth drone and guitars which sound like sheets of metal being hurled through glass.

A brutal unstoppable force Husband’s new cut is all sharp edges. It’s name? ‘Flowers’. Go figure.
