Foy Vance is standing on the shoulders of giants.
A songwriter with a deep and abiding love of music, his next project takes him right to the source.
New album 'From Muscle Shoals' was recorded at the legendary Alabama studio FAME, and features two of the original ‘Swampers’ house band, famed for their role on countless 60s and 70s hits.
Spooner Oldham (keys) and David Hood (bass) joined a crack team of musicians, all shepherded by Foy Vance as he moulded them into his vision.
Due out on June 28th via Ed Sheeran's label Gingerbread Man Records, 'From Muscle Shoals' is a supple, ocean-deep return, one fuelled by a love for the source material but a determination to express something distinctly personal.
Ahead of the release, we're able to share a version of album cut 'You Get To Me' recorded live in FAME Studios.
Foy explains: "'You Get To Me' was the first song we cut at FAME Studios. We weren’t sure how things would go it being a completely live recording with all the players in the room.., but it came naturally and set the precedent for the entire record.”
A scorching, searing performance, this is as gutsy as it gets, with Foy truly letting go, backed by some of the best musicians in the world.
