Track of the Day 5/5 – Fanfarlo

The new single from the brilliant sextet...

They’ve been one of the very best bands on the British underground for some time, but in 2009 Fanfarlo will finally emerge to a wider audience with the release of their gorgeous debut album ‘Reservoir’, out at the end of the month.

Combining sounds drawn from the most classic of folk and adventurous of indie-rock, an easy comparison act is Arcade Fire – but while many a parallel would see the newcomer fall short of the Canadians’ greatness, there’s something so very special about this London sextet that has one thinking: yes, they are a match indeed for across-the-ocean sorts.

Taken from ‘Reservoir’ is ‘Drowning Men’, released as a single this week and featured here as our TotD. If you like what you hear on the player above, follow the below links for more Fanfarlo goodness.
