Track Of The Day 4/10 – Swimming

Nottingham Dark Pop

It’s a family affair.

Swimming are centred on two brothers, except this isn’t some Kinks / Oasis battleground. In fact, John and Peter Sampson are as close as can be, making those long hours in the tour bus fly by.

Intriguing fact: Peter Sampson is a champion beat-boxer.

Formed in Nottingham, the five piece have gradually developed a reputation for producing pop with a dark heart. Electro but without the gleeful stomp, Swimming have been slowly building for some time.

With work on their debut album complete, the band are set to blast their way around the country. New single ‘Neutron Wireless Crystal’ will be released on October 16th, leading the band’s breakout charge.

Parent LP ‘Ecstatics International’ is set to drop on November 7th. As the saying goes, young bands have their whole lives to produce their debut LP and Swimming are no exception – years of struggle have gone into getting this release.

Clash Magazine launched a new live music venture last month at top London venue The Lexington. Returning for a second instalment, Swimming are set to headline a three band bill.

Newcomers Beaty Heart and Clout! are also due to take part – expect to hear more from them as the week progresses!

As a special treat, ClashMusic have grabbed Swimming’s ‘Mining For Diamonds’ as our latest Track of the Day.
