Boxed In is a one person pop laboratory.
The songwriter released his self-titled debut last year, and has constructed a follow up in a mere 12 months.
'Melt' will be released on September 23rd, and finds Boxed In surging forward, imbued with a rare confidence and a real sense of daring.
New cut 'Jist' is a sign of where his head is at. Co-produced with Dan Carey, the billowing psych-addled textures are set against a rolling, LCD Soundsystem style rhythm.
Boxed In explains that the track was inspired by “getting lost in repetitive thought patterns & the form of the music which emulates that mindset. It's perversely enjoyable to work yourself in to a cyclical mantra from which there's no escape.”
Clash is able to premiere the accompanying visuals, and it deftly expands on those dream-like thoughts. Directed by Wayne McCauslin, the clip is a trippy kaleidoscopic tribute – the director explains:
"The music video for Jist came about initially when incorporating Oli's liking for surrealist artists that we both admire, I drew a lot of inspiration from the likes of F.Bacon, Escher and Hitchcock whilst trying to keep things funky. Oli's composition offered me a lot of visual ground for adding elements and glitches here and there, so the creative process felt very natural and it was fun to play with…"
