Track of the Day 3/8 – Telekinesis

Seattle's most raucous purveyor of pop

The Green Man takeover is over. Track Of The Day is back to it’s old tricks, syphoning new music and spitting it onto our front page. Today; Seattle’s most raucous purveyor of pop, Telekinesis.

My first dose of Telekinesis was today’s ‘Track of The Day’, and the opening 10 seconds threw me into repelled doldrums. Wispy, blase Thrills-like wittering over some flat acoustic guitar that sounds like the whole thing is being put together by three Jack Johnsons on a beach drinking tropical punch, extolling the virtues of lo-fi and reflecting on season fucking 4 of The O.C. Then the cymbals peeter out, the guitar halts and in one swooping transcendental instance the song flips on its head in a percussion temper tantrum, thus becoming an inspiring explosion of indie twee-pop guided by the passionate vocals of Michael Lerner. Witness this flip via download below. Yes that is free download. No streams today!

The sound of Telekinesis is that of one man, the aforementioned Michael Lerner, projecting his writing through a full band. The fruit of which is ‘Telekinesis!’ the album, a collection of 3 minute topping pop nuggets, all aided and abetted by Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla. Look out for the review in the next Clash Magazine.
