Cariss Auburn is making power moves.
The Wolverhampton riser blends imperious R&B songwriting with aspects of Y2K gloss, decontextualising classic tropes to shape something personal, and vivid. Each song seems to illuminate her perspectives, the voice of an artist with something to say.
Using Instagram to build her own audience – she hosts regular IG lives, covering the likes of Rina Sawayama and Charli XCX – Cariss Auburn fuses her influences with outsider elements, resulting in a distinctive sound.

New single ‘50%’ deals with reality, a song that discusses familial pressure, and society’s need to find that illusive ‘other half’. Out now, it’s a soulful burner, anti-romantic in its lyrics, yet also proud to be drawn towards self-love, and self-fulfilment.
She comments…
“I wrote ‘50%’ after catching up with my friends and realising we were all going through this thing of family members being on the back of our necks about finding a partner or “other half”. We’re truly over it. It’s anti-romantic as much as it’s a love letter to myself in the knowledge that I don’t want to bend to that pressure anymore.”
