Track of the Day 28/7 – Andrew Bird

Another great track from a Green Man performer...

Chicago-born multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird – an artist much appreciated around the Clash offices for his ambitious song-crafting – provides today’s TOTD, ‘Fitz And The Dizzyspells’.

The song – available to download for free below – is taken from Bird’s Bella Union-released album ‘Noble Beast’, which emerged to great critical acclaim earlier this year. The record – its maker’s fourth solo album after a series of releases as part of Squirrel Nut Zippers and as the lynchpin member of the Bowl Of Fire – was also briefly available as a two-disc set, featuring the bonus collection of instrumental songs ‘Useless Creatures’. If you find a copy, get it.

Andrew Bird is one of many great artists playing this year’s Green Man Festival, held August 21-23 in the Becon Beacons. Also on the bill: Animal Collective, Jarvis Cocker, Bon Iver, Wilco, Camera Obscura, Blue Roses, Errors, Gang Gang Dance, Pivot and many more. Truthfully, a better line-up at a British festival is hard to find – get more information at the festival’s official website HERE.

ClashMusic.com will feature artists playing the Green Man Festival in our TOTD section ’til the end of this week, so click back over the next few days for treats from Camera Obscura, Wooden Shjips and Jarvis Cocker. Check the archive for last week’s delights.
