Track Of The Day 28/10: The Dead Science

Hear the trio's 'Make Mine Marvel'

Tuesdays only mean one thing for TOTD, time for some Jazz drenched experimental pop (more mental than experimental) with an orchestra worth of guest musicians.

Today we have The Dead Science, three men hailing from the musical mecca of Seattle, bringing a penchant for Prince with them.

The tumbling bass of ‘Make Mine Marvel’ provides ground zero for the swirling violins to vault, as Sam Mickens showcases a towering falsetto that would make Matt Bellamy proud. The track unfurls with an unpredictable rhythm, to be expected from a band who pride themselves on an ever-changing musical direction. The standard issue guitar/bass/drums set up of the band is revitalised by the addition of guest performers featuring harps, cellos, violas, saxophones, horns and synth.

Tuesday November 4th sees The Dead Science back up indie-trip hopsters Why? at London’s Scala, so if our track below tickles your lobes then get down there for another fix.
