Although Glasgow is undoubtedly leading the way, electronic music is thriving across Scotland.
Beyond the twin poles of LuckyMe and Numbers, Edinburgh boasts a thriving dubstep scene while Aberdeen’s DIY aesthetics have a lot to admire. Strangely, the out of the way climes of Dundee are also fostering some Futuristic electronics.
The woozy tripped out hip hop of Architeq owes a debt to the city, while rising producer Samoyed is a product of Dundee’s renowned art school Duncan Of Jordanstone.
Taking his time, Loops Haunt is now ready to catch up with his peers. The producer released in EP on Black Acre last year, impressing all and sundry with his combination of concrete solid beats, lazer cuttings synths and IDM flourishes.
Now Loops Haunt is stirring again, and his latest cut could well be his best to date. ‘Ark’ is a stunning piece of electronic music, finally bringing together the elements which fuel the producer in one blistering cut.
Out on November 28th, Bristol’s Black Acre label will again play home to the release which will be available on 180g vinyl. As a special bonus, 50 copies containing hand screen prints will be hidden among the stock.
The tune itself? Well ‘Ark’ is all ‘Blade Runner’ atmospherics, synths that explode like a virus running through Daft Punk’s twin helmets. The beats are clear cut, the hip hop influence still prevalent but the wonky feel adds a human dimension to the contorted bursts of IDM machinery.
