It took a chance meeting to place Semma in the path of Kingdom, but when the two met the chemistry was immediate.
Work began in earnest on new material, placing her effervescent pop touch against the hyper-reality of Kingdom's flouro-saturated club touch.
New EP 'Ribbons & Bows' is the result, a forthcoming release on Fade To Mind (order it HERE) that finds the perfect balance between two distinct talents.
Semma grew up listening to legendary vocalists such as Madonna and Whitney Houston, and this really comes to the fore on new song 'My Boy'.
The vocal is heartfelt, earnest, and passionate, while Kingdom's production – crafted alongside Dubbel Dutch – moves from brooding heartache to the sparkle of renewed attraction.
It's the culmination of their time together, with Semma commenting:
“I was in LA working on music with various producers and I met Kingdom on my last day before I flew back to London. We just sat in his car and played each other our music. I think we both knew instantly it was going to work. He was the first producer I felt I could be myself with (musically), and he understood my desire to make an EP that shows who I am and gave me free rein on the vocals.”
“I returned to LA for two months and we began this magical project. This is my debut EP and I’m so proud of it… it’s feminine yet tough at the same time and it captured exactly what I wanted…for it to be a true reflection of me.”
