Track Of The Day 26/2 – The Bellybuttons

'Outside'

Glasgow outfit The Bellybuttons emerged from the city's nexus of DIY networks, a loose knit conglomerate of promoters, musicians, writers, and vagabonds.

Releasing a string of singles and EPs, the band's scuzz-pop sound has been sharpened by relentless shows, popping up at venues across the land.

Heading into Shady Lane Recording Studios to focus on their debut full length, The Bellybuttons worked alongside producer Chris McCrory.

Debut album 'Practise Maps' is the result, and it drops on April 8th via the fine people at Fuzzkill Records.

With a Glasgow album release party at The Old Hairdressers on April 13th, the band are able to share a new preview from the record on Clash.

Opening with that snappy rhythm and an instantly infectious guitar hook, 'Outside' recalls everyone from Pavement to BMX Bandits, Sebadoh to Teenage Fanclub.

Ripped up jingle-jangle guitar lines interweave around that brooding vocals, the layers of reverb blurring the song into a beam of glorious sunshine.

Oddly self-effacing, 'Outside' has a precision to its touch that feels wonderfully charming. Tune in now.
