Track Of The Day 26/10 – Melis

'Holding Hands'

You might well recall Melis from a past life.

Formerly a member of IYES, the half Turkish and half Czech pop talent is now focussed entirely on solo material.

It seems to be a decision that is paying off. Electronic pop flecked with pop elements, each new track in her slim catalogue thus far strikes with unerring accuracy.

New single 'Holding Hands' airs on Clash, and it's a refreshing, billowing slice of art-pop, lyrically introverted but sonically oh-so-beautiful.

Melis explains: “When things go wrong, you tend to try and save what’s left by putting the other person first to yourself, and ultimately forgetting why you were in the relationship at all.”
