To help you through your Monday morning blues, we’ve got a two-part present for you lucky, lucky people: allow us to introduce Pleasure Mob.
The London based-electro outfit, formed by Douglas Hall and Nathan Von Boventer, are releasing their new track ‘Prisoner’ today, and it’s our free track of the day. As the band prepare their debut album, which should be released early next year, they’ll be playing a single launch at London’s Old Blue Last on Tuesday (26 July).
Chatting to ClashMusic, Pleasure Mob revealed that they first met while barely out of short trousers. “Doug (Douglas Hall) and I (Nathan Von Boventer) go way back – we’ve jammed together since we were 12 when we used to play American punk rock in my bedroom. We were basically a Green Day tribute act! So we’ve been playing together for donkey’s years. We had a little break around university time and then got back together a couple of years ago. It’s been full steam ahead from there.”
However since then Pleasure Mob have shifted and evolved, with each member bringing their own tastes. “The different musical tangents we’ve been on have been quite interesting – it was punk pop for a while, and then we got into the whole trip hop thing and came out the other end in a kind of soul/ electro pop punk.”
“I think we’re pretty much the same. Just with wives! Musically we tend to agree a lot on new bands – anything with a fresh sound we’re normally quite similar about. When it comes to what we were brought up on, and older music that we’re into now, it’s quite different. Doug is quite into his happy soulful stuff and I’ve got a bit of a weakness for anything cheesy.”
‘Prisoner’ is a typically bouncy piece of electro goodness from the duo. Coming ahead of their show at the Old Blue Last, Pleasure Mob look difficult to stop.
