Track Of The Day 25/3 – Lewis Watson

'Because Of You'

Lewis Watson is unstoppable.

The songwriter isn't letting the coronavirus shutdown get in his way, using social media to amplify his message.

Whether that's hosting his own radio station on Twitch or running his own music festival on Instagram, he's attacking our isolation and reminding fans that he is still here for them.

New album ‘the love that you want’ is set to be released on May 29th, and it reaches back to the first roots of Lewis Watson's songwriting.

Take new single 'Because Of You'. Out now, it's sharply defined melodic hooks and beautifully etched melancholy echo those early Radiohead and Coldplay LPs.

The visuals pick up on these late 90s reference points, delivering something neatly retro in the process.

“I love a music video where the band are just in a room, playing the song,” he says.

“The song was heavily inspired by the Britpop era that I love so much, and I wanted the visuals to represent that too. We hired a few massive VHS cameras and just went at it. I love the outcome, it feels like just the right amount of Top Of The Pops 2 to me – which never hurt anybody!”

Tune in now.

Lewis Watson will host the Instagram Live music festival ‘your quarantine dream team’ tonight (March 24th) with performances from Gabrielle Aplin, Dodie, Hudson Taylor, Orla Gartland, JC Stewart, Plested, and Lewis himself, plus a yoga set from Nina Nesbitt.

Tune in at the Lewis Watson Instagram page between 5pm – 9pm.
