Track Of The Day 24/8 – Othello Woolf

Painful Break Up Alert

It’s fair to say that the vast majority of us have been there.

Hurt. Broken. Lonely. Confused. If love really was a drug then the comedown would be crippling.

Othello Woolf it seems has been there. Only he has ripped himself away from maudlin introspection and allowed his heartbreak to fuel a sad, beautiful, twisted selection of new songs.

Following the success of early single ‘Stand’ and the subsequent EP ‘Cold In Flesh’ the songwriter has completed his debut LP. Hardly a concept album, the record does seem to be inspired by the painful end of a relationship.

So we have the process of nostalgia, the imbuing of certain memories with a sense of happiness they perhaps don’t deserve. The paranoid fear of rejection as you try and move on with your life. The realisation that happiness is at best fleeting and maybe you’d just better get with the timetable before the train leaves the station.

All good, wholesome fare. After all, what is pop music good for if it can’t allow us to wallow in its grooves, allowing the needle to scratch our latest heartbreak?

Due out on September 5th, the debut album will be available as a download from Othello Woolf’s official website before hitting iTunes.

Taken from the new album, ‘Scared Of Love’ is a twisted R&B jam that laments love while also berating the urge to wallow in self-pity. After all, everyone has to move on.
