London duo Bamboo Smoke want to give words to the indescribable.
Ethereal, almost translucent songwriting, the band deliberately leave their songs unpolished, rendering each with a sketch-like feel.
Wonderfully Impressionistic pop music, Bamboo Smoke channel their ideas on a guitar-driven direction, but their palette draws on a wide variety of hues and tones.
The pair comment: "We like things fairly loose and unpolished, and tend to retain as many raw qualities from each recording as we can, imperfections and all. Different musical backgrounds and a number of projects under each belt, we share a love of soul, hip-hop, and jazz."
New single 'Sleepless' has that hazy, late night feel, with the song fusing those twisting guitar lines with a slumped beat and murmuring backing vocals.
Highly suggestive and wonderfully potent, it conjures a rare feeling of intimacy. They comment:
"The track was inspired by the exquisite tension of feeling alone whilst beside someone. The thunderous silence of everything unspoken. Hiding fears in the shape of another."
