Track Of The Day 23/11 – 65daysofstatic

Sheffield Group Return

Taking four years to cough up their new album, 65daysofstatic have surprised fans with a quickfire new EP.

A ferocious live act, the band’s mixture of blistering electronic and all out guitar assault is the stuff of legend. Near constant touring honed their chops, with 65daysofstatic earning acclaim at home and abroad.

Chosen by Robert Smith to support The Cure on a typically epic jaunt, the Sheffield group were exposed to thousands of new fans. However the band’s studio work is equally as important, with new album ‘We Were Exploding Anyway’ moving away from their live sound.

65daysofstatic released the album to widespread acclaim this summer, swapped visceral things for songcraft. Focussing on the actual structure of their material, the Sheffield band proved that there was more to their music than volume.

Offcuts from the album have been mixed in with new material for their new EP. ‘Heavy Sky’ is much more than an addendum to the parent album, containing seven tracks which merge into an identity of their own.

Album highlight ‘Tigergirl’ is given a makeover, with the Wishful Thinking edit turning a ten minute epic into a three minute explosion. Download it below…
