Track Of The Day 22/7 – billy blond

'Glow Up'

billy blond struggled for a long time with who he was, finding his identity almost impossible to pin down.

A gay man in a society still riddled with hetero-normative beliefs, he agonised over his loves and desires, before finally finding self-acceptance.

Aware – even proud – of who he is, this shift in mood and self-belief fuels his striking debut EP 'Glow Up'.

Seismic alt-pop that sings of empowerment and acknowledging your truth, he wears his mental scars on the outside while transforming them into something beautiful.

Part of his bold trajectory, debut EP 'Glow Up' is broad enough to showcase his hidden depths, while strikingly succinct as an introduction.

We're able to premiere the title cut, this gorgeous piece of pop bedlam that refuses to be hemmed in.

The visuals build on this, presenting an artist who has been through it all, before coming out on the other side.

He comments: “I had been depressed, broke, hating myself and drinking too much for too long. I’m a strong believer that life imitates art so I wanted to write a song about the hard times but spin it to something positive – Love bringing you back. Whether that’s self-love, pure friendship or a romantic relationship.”
