Track of the Day 22/4 – Wintermute

Twitchy dancefloor rock from Leeds foursome...

Bursting out of Leeds with a refined take on all things quirkily post-punk, every staccato arrangement angled for silky skull entry, Wintermute are the kind of band you need in your life if the likes of Foals and The Futureheads soundtrack your world.

The band’s debut album ‘Robot Works’ is released via the ever-impressive Big Scary Monsters label, and the four-piece have been touring their socks off in support – be sure to click to their MySpace page for updates on their gig activity.

Our TotD is lifted directly from said album – ‘Disco Loadout’ represents a standout high on a record with more than its share of euphoric rushes and fiddly-riff peaks. A brain-tickler that’s also adept at coaxing dancing shoes into action, it’s double-thumbs win.
